Leaping into 38
I had such a fun birthday last year that I decided to do it all again! My family came down to the lake and we spent the day on the water and dinner at Old North State County Club. A perfect day once again.
The weekend started with my present from Brigid and Wayne. The Margaritaville! This fine piece of machinery got a lot of use over the weekend. We made every kind of margarita and even made deliveries to neighbors! Too good not to share.
In another annual birthday tradition, Rob got to throw me off the jetski. As you can see from the photo, I look happy here but Rob has the look of dogged determination. He means business. Let me tell you, this scenario did not end well. I usually love flying through mid air into water but this one about knocked me cold. Reconsidering traditions.
We had dinner at Old North State and took family photos (approximately 970 of them) and this was the best one. This may need to be our Christmas card photo just so everyone can see how weird Austin is.
Aren't we a handsome bunch? This was picture # 997.
And is there any better way to finish a celebration than to jump fully clothed into the pitch black lake? Nope. Though as you can see, Rob thought there was a better way. Guess you get mature after 40.
And because I wasn't quite done with jumping off things, we snuck on to our neighbor's double decker dock and I took a giant leap. I might be 38 but I still act like I'm 20. And I hope I always do!

Camper of the Week
To keep Austin's mind off of Madeleine at school (and to keep him from making me completely insane) we sent him off to camp. The first week was "Sports Camp" where he got to do a little of everything...basketball, baseball and soccer. He had a great week playing games and hanging out with new friends. Parents were invited to an awards ceremony on the final day and I assumed Austin would get some certificate that said "#1 Kid" or something. NOPE! My little man got the "Camper of the Week" award. He showed excellent sportsmanship, skill and all around "umph" during camp so the coaches decorated a special soccer ball for him with his name on it. He's awesome.
And seriously, what is more appropriate to eat before sports camp than a baseball donut? The answer is nothing. Nothing is more appropriate.
Kindergarten!
We are starting our 5th week of Kindergarten and Madeleine is still loving it! She is writing like a pro and even reading new words. She is more than proud of her accomplishments and it's so fun to see her excitement. My only disappointment is the lack of bussing. No busses mean I have to get my lazy butt out the door to get her to school on time. At least we have carpool so I can stay in my pj's :) And can I just say "whoop whoop" for uniforms!? Loving it!

| First Day of School |
Austin is missing his buddy during the day. He's used to her being in school on days he's not but this is different somehow. She's gone too long and he's not sure what to do with himself. The first week I tried to keep him busy...
He really didn't love being home while she was in her new school so I sent him off to camp. Alls good in the King house now!
