High and Tight

Okay, well technically it's a buzz cut. Either way, it's drastic! Austin's last few haircuts have been a disaster. I've been taking him to a kid's hair place and all they've done is butcher the poor kids hair. This last time they actually gave him bangs. BANGS! I couldn't stand to look at the bangs for one more day so I took him to my salon for advice. They buzzed it off so that it could grow back in naturally. A lot of fuss over a two year old boys hair but I can't help it. The kid is cool and his hair needs to reflect that. Once again, I need to get a life.

After watching SNL on Tivo tonight, it hit me why I like Austin's hair so much. He looks just like a white Ludacris. I love Luda :)

Thank You Grandma King

What a great surprise! During Cassie's sleepover, three very special cards came in the mail from Grandma King. Madeleine, Austin and Cassie each received their own card and inside were their very own M&M's! It made three children very happy and very messy. Perfect. Thank you!

Every year when Christmas card season rolls around, I realize we have no good family photos. 

So I am given the choice to either skip the holiday photo cards or brush my hair and suck it up for a few family pics. Rob prefers the picture cards so off to Mom & Dad's we went for a photo shoot. We ended up with the perfect day, lots of leaves, happy kids (if you don't count Austin) and so many great photos. Here are a few...all 300+ photos will be posted in the photo links on the side. Sleepover!

Madeleine had her first sleepover with her buddy Cassie. Tonight is the first of a FOUR night sleepover. Wish me luck. 

Evil Awaits at the Lake

A kitten? Evil? YES! Eeevil, like the fru-its of the De-vil. (You must love "So I Married an Axe Murderer" to understand). I am horribly, deathly, annoyingly allergic to cats and as a result have lost all love for those adorable little fur balls from Hell. So when one showed up at our door at the lake and would not go away a little panic set in. This is the second week he/she has been there. His crying was so bad we had to close the doors and tune him out (not easy). I actually called Animal Control on this little kitteh's butt. They probably had a fine laugh about it because they did not show up. So Rob gave me a great idea. I poured a bowl full of dog food and walked the cat several doors down into the woods and left the food. I didn't see that cat after that so I'm hoping it worked. So, uh, if you are my lake neighbor and you all of a sudden find you have a cat...yeah, sorry about that.

But then he showed his arse and he had to go. 
And on a side note, these are about the only photos I got of our girls weekend. Look at this...three girls actually posing and SMILING for the camera! Not running away, not wanting a picture. I love to document friends and I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to have good proof of good memories. So thanks ladies!

Austin 2.0

New Haircut = New Attitude. My moody dude got a new outlook on life and I'm hoping it sticks (kind of like his hair).  Getting ready for school this morning I was actually able to catch him SMILING.  Yes! It's true! He was pretty pleased with life today. 

Oh but wait...Austin 1.0 made an appearance.  Baby steps. Baby steps. 

A Very Important Letter is Arriving

Last Christmas season the Elf of "The Elf of the Shelf" infamy paid several sneaky visits to our house. Madeleine loved it and most importantly it worked!!  If you are unfamiliar with this Christmas Tradition you can read all about here:

Recently, Madeleine has been asking where the elf is and when she can see him. I had an idea that the elf would be sending a postcard shortly before his arrival so she would know when to start looking for him. She's very excited. Austin, on the other hand, is about to have the whining scared out of him (I hope).  Here is the card I designed to mail to the kids. I cannot wait to see the look on their face when I read it to them!

Pumpkin Farm with Preschool

The kids had a field trip to a local Pumpkin Farm and since Rob was out of town (again!) my parents tagged along to help keep the kids in line. Or at least that is what I would like them to do! The kids had a nice time but I think they were distracted by Grandma and Grandpa. Instead of playing with their class friends they just wanted to play with G&G.
