Bike Week

The kids had a "Bike-A-Thon" at school last week for fun and to raise a little money for the school. They decorated their bikes then did laps around the lot till they dropped.

Pulling a Lance Armstrong move...making eye contact with the rider behind her before blowing them out of the water.

Austin wanted in on the action and chased her on foot for several laps.

Austin's turn! Austin had his Bike-A-Thon the next day with considerably cooler temperatures but fun anyway. He waited all week for this and he was ready for action.

I'm number one! Austin said "I'm going to win. Everyone else will be behind me".

There's that Lance Armstrong move again.

A Magical Birthday

The 5th birthday is a special one.  It was the first birthday I remember as a child and it's always been a fond memory so I wanted to make Madeleine's 5th birthday special for her. She handpicked her guest list and on the big day we surprised her with a magician! Madeleine is a BIG fan of magic shows and she was in her element the whole day. The smiles say it all.

A Visit From the O'Hara Family

My Aunt Kathie and cousin Colleen (from the O'Hara side) arrived last week for a visit over Easter weekend. Colleen is in school for elementary education and had an interview at one of our schools. She very much wants to move here after graduation to teach but Rob is ready to hire her to be our full time nanny! The kids have met Aunt Kathie several times but now that they are older, this is probably the first visit they'll remember. And the kids had MUCH fun.

On Friday morning we drove to the lake for a few days of gold old North Carolina heat. It was up to 100 in the sun on Friday. Aunt Kathie and Colleen enjoyed long kayak rides.

And Madeleine FINALLY got to ride the jet ski again. She's only been asking for months!

Aunt Kathie got a lesson from Rob then went off on her own. She is hooked. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a jet ski in her driveway soon!

Madeleine will miss her "Miss Aunt Kathie" very, very much.
